LPC-Associate, LCDC, NCC

Taking the first step toward counseling can feel uncertain, especially when you're managing the challenges of mental health concerns, substance use, or both. You may feel overwhelmed, discouraged, or unsure where to begin, but you don't have to face those challenges alone.

I'm Shabrena Brown, a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate (LPC Associate) supervised by Blanca Maldonado - Stevens, M.Ed., LPC – S, LCDC, and a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC). I obtained a Master of Arts in Psychology at the University of Arizona Global Campus. I also obtained a Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Walden University.

I work with adults experiencing co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders, helping them navigate recovery with compassion, evidence-based care, and hope. My counseling style is collaborative, genuine, and supportive. I believe therapy should be a space where you feel heard without judgment while also being encouraged to grow. Together, we'll identify what's keeping you stuck, build practical coping skills, strengthen your resilience, and work toward goals that align with the life you want to create.
I integrate evidence-based approaches, including Motivational Interviewing (MI), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Narrative Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, and trauma-informed care. Because every person's story is different, I tailor treatment to fit your unique experiences, strengths, and goals.

I believe recovery is more than achieving sobriety or reducing symptoms. It's about healing the whole person’s mind, body, and relationships. Whether you're working through addiction, anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, or major life transitions, my goal is to help you develop lasting skills that support meaningful, sustainable change.

I strive to create a therapeutic relationship built on trust, respect, authenticity, and accountability. My hope is that our work together empowers you to reconnect with your strengths, overcome barriers, and build a life that reflects your values and purpose.
Healing isn't about becoming someone new; it's about discovering the strength that's been within you all along. If you're ready to begin that journey, I'd be honored to support you every step of the way.

We may not be responsible for the world that created our minds, but we can take responsibility for the mind with which we create our world.
